They said it couldn't be done in Southern California but Gary and Marlene Woodworth proved them wrong. You CAN grow an MULTI AWARD WINNING PINOT NOIR right here in Temecula. The Woodworth 2011 Pinot Noir has just been released and is available on their website or at Crush and Brew in Old Town Temecula. Woodworth Vineyard Pinot Noirs have consistently been multiple Gold Medal winning wines since their first vintage in 2008. How did they do it? The answer is total focus on growing the grape and lots of love and tender care after harvest.
Gary and Marlene had been looking for property to grow award winning grapes for several years. They had spent their lives in high level professional positions with major corporations and upon retirement they decided to go into the wine business. They found the perfect property in the De Luz area of Temecula which is only 12 miles from the ocean with the coastal climate that features cool evenings and morning fog. Initially they sold their grapes but always held some back to make wine. Everyone loved the results and so they became the first Micro-Winery in De Luz.
The winery is not open to the public but as a wine club member you are invited to all their special events and pick up parties at the winery. The property is beautiful as you will see when you visit their website. They have an online newsletters that is always interesting and includes videos Marlene puts together. This winery is truly one of the hidden gems in Temecula so make sure you give their wines a try. You will not be disappointed.
As a label manufacturer we are particularly proud of the labels we print for the Woodworth's. Dogs are a big part of their lives and we love printing various labels featuring their dogs. For the Pinot Noir we used two different foils (Gold and Green) on an Estate stock. The green foil covers a large area which takes special care and equipment to achieve. All of their labels are printed on our latest HP digital label press. Digital label printing is perfect for wine labels. Digital printing allows for perfect color quality and registration, serialized printing for variable data such as numbered labels, printing on textured stocks for interesting contrasts and small batch printing. The beauty of digital printing is that there are no printing plates to purchase and press proofs are printed on the press for true color production. Digital printing has revolutionized the label printing industry. Cheers
